Nobel laureate and environmental leaders to speak at Greenbuild Mexico 2018

A lineup of environmental leaders will take the plenary stage next month at Greenbuild Mexico 2018 in Mexico City: Nobel laureate Mario Molina; Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO of USGBC and GBCI; and Edda Fernández Luiselli of Mexico’s environmental ministry.

For over 15 years, Greenbuild has been the premier event for green building professionals worldwide, offering educational sessions, workshops, keynotes from industry visionaries and special networking events. Since its 2002 debut, it has expanded to four international locations: China, Europe, India and Mexico.

Mario J. Molina, Ph.D.

Mario J. Molina is one of the leading scientists worldwide in atmospheric chemistry. He is best known for uncovering how chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) gases can deplete the Earth’s ozone layer and was awarded the 1995 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and 2013 Presidential Medal of Freedom for his research.

Born in Mexico City, Molina is a professor at the University of California San Diego and has served on several advisory boards, as well as on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. He’s a member of the National Academy of Sciences, Pontifical Academy of Sciences and Mexican Academy of Sciences.

Mahesh Ramanujam

Mahesh Ramanujam is proving that building a more sustainable world is no longer a dream, but a global evolution. As president and CEO of USGBC and GBCI, he leads a community of 13 million people that’s growing every day.

A graduate from India’s Annamalai University with a degree in computer engineering, Ramanujam brings a strong background in technology and innovation to his work in building healthier communities and making sustainable living available to everyone.

Ramanujam serves on numerous boards and advisory committees, including Bank of America’s National Community Advisory Council and GRESB’s Board of Directors. He previously served as COO of Emergys Corp., and he led various business transformation programs for more than a decade at IBM and Lenovo.

Edda Fernández Luiselli

Edda Fernandez Luiselli is a leader in Mexico’s environment ministry whose work focuses on promoting biodiversity conservation and sustainability. She is the Director General of the Primary Sector and Renewable Natural Resources in the Undersecretary for Environmental Regulation and Promotion of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT). She’s worked in SEMARNAT for 17 years as a senior advisor and chief of staff in the last three federal administrations.

Luiselli also serves as National Focal Point for the Nagoya Protocol of the Convention on Biological Diversity and co-chairs UNEP’s 10-year Framework on Programmes on Sustainable Production and Consumption.
